0911 Lot17 - Squirrel

November 2009 Auction
Brown gelding 19/09/03
Honours List x Kin Lorita
On account of Wendy Ward

Squirrel is a young TB gelding with a great future. Standing still he is a little unimpressive and is so quiet that he lacks ‘look at me’- but once he is going, he really is something else.

On the flat he has won nearly every dressage test that he has entered - about six tests at local dressage days. The photo of him in the catalogue is one of many photos of this quality. He has always a wonderful quiet temperament that just does not stir up or interfere with his obvious talent. He has a great walk, a beautiful rhythmic trot which has a wonderful moment of suspension, his canter is big but also balanced and he accepts the bit quietly with a wonderful uphill carriage. He is so good that you nearly have to see it to believe it however this is not just our opinion but also the opinion of the dressage judges.

Over a jump the horse has a great bascule very sharp in front and good behind. Squirrel is nimble in front of a fence and tries very hard not to touch the rails.

At the time of writing he is just a big baby who obviously has some talent. It is our opinion that this horse has a huge future, possibly even as an Olympic contender especially in eventing – he is good enough to interest the Olympic professional but quiet enough to interest an enthusiastic amateur. A really nice horse.
